Would you like to become involved in our productions at THEATRE SUBURBIA, but don't feel your talents lie "in front of the footlights"? You'd be amazed (as are many of our audience members) at the myriad of activities that go on "behind the scenes" and are absolutely essential to the mounting of a successful show.
For example, can you:
Ride herd over a passel of actors?
Operate a hammer with minimal damage to yourself and others?
Wield a paintbrush in an enclosed space?
Thread a needle and hem a skirt?
Flick a light switch or turn on a CD player?
If you have answered YES to any or all of these questions, YOU have precisely the talents required to become what we fondly refer to as a
TIRELESS BACKSTAGE WORKER
As with all aspects of THEATRE SUBURBIA, our "techie" positions are strictly volunteer, but we do promise you the compensation of working with a great bunch of people whose common goal is producing quality live theater.
High school drama students and college theater majors are ESPECIALLY welcomed!
The best way to find out what's going on is to attend one of our set construction sessions. The theater is dark for two weeks between each production throughout the season. This allows us time to build our sets, which have won critical acclaim for their professional quality. We usually converge around 10:00am on the Sunday following a closing night, and at the same time the next two Saturdays and Sundays...believe us, we've never turned anyone away who walked in and asked:
"What can I do to help?"
Another way to get involved is to fill out an interest slip the next time you come to see a show. They're located next to the BOX OFFICE. Just fill one out and give it to the person selling tickets. You'll be contacted shortly by the board member responsible for the activities in the area(s) you've indicated.
